What's New

Introducing composition snapshots. You can now compare changes against an earlier frame without leaving the canvas, and set up parenting and track mattes the way After Effects users already do.

• Composition snapshots: Capture the current canvas frame with the camera button on the player control bar, then compare it against your live work.

  • Press and hold the eyeball to show the snapshot in place of the live frame.

  • Hold Option/Alt to blend the two with a Difference operation, where pure black means nothing changed.

  • One snapshot is held at a time. It stays locked to composition space when you zoom or pan, and it survives playhead moves and scene switches.

  • Clear it from Edit → Purge → Snapshot.

  • Capture is unavailable on the opt-in WebGPU renderer.

• Pick whip: Set layer parenting and track mattes by dragging straight onto the target layer, After Effects style.

Also included:

• Motion Copilot panel: Motion Copilot now lives in a right panel tab instead of a floating window.

• Unified text tool: Text and Text Box are now one toolbar entry. Press ⌥T to arm it, then click to create artistic text or drag to create a text box sized to the area you drew.

Enhancements

• Keyframe selection: Selected keyframes now stay selected when you drag the playhead or seek on the ruler.

• Animated property rows: Rows now show a clearer selected style when every keyframe for that property is selected.

• Toast notifications: Toast colours now follow the active theme.

• Pencil tool: The drawing smoothing slider now uses the brand colour.

Stability & Bug Fixes

• Fixed edits being lost on a layer trimmed outside the current frame. The property panel and timeline now reflect the change, and the canvas applies it when the layer becomes visible again.

• Fixed mask opacity not being editable from its timeline row.

• Fixed the timeline's parent dropdown closing as soon as the pointer left the layer row.

• Fixed the parent dropdown not marking the current parent, or not showing "(No parent)" when a layer had none.

• Fixed a pick whip released on an expanded property row, or between rows, silently unsetting the parent or track matte.

• Resolved an issue where a pick whip drop that unsets the parent or track matte looked the same as one that assigns it.

• Fixed the track matte control showing the matte layer's ID instead of its name after picking from the dropdown.

• Fixed nested animated rows in the timeline being indented incorrectly.
