Introducing Figma State Machine

Your Figma prototype interactions now ship as production-ready animations.

The LottieFiles plugin reads the interactions you’ve already built - clicks, hovers, presses, delays and exports them as a dotLottie file with embedded state machines. No rebuilding in another tool. No reconfiguring triggers. The prototype you already made is the animation.

✨ What’s New
  • State Machine export -Select any prototype frame and export it as a working interactive dotLottie. The plugin auto-detects triggers across:

    • Frame-to-frame prototype flows

    • Interactions on nested objects and elements within frames

    • Component and variant-based interactions

Supported triggers: click, hover, press, mouse enter/leave, and after delay -
Learn details at: Figma export guide

  • In-plugin preview - Toggle State Machine mode and interact with your animation before you export. What you see is what your users get. Toggle state machine mode off for Lottie JSON whenever needed.

  • Additional updates:

    • Save state machines to your workspace with version control

    • Open in Lottie Creator for advanced editing

    • State machine files are badged in previews so your team spots them instantly
